Serving welcome drinks at the reception venue after the ceremony is a fab way to bring everyone together to start mingling and reminiscing about how lovely the ceremony was.
You should aim to serve a minimum of two drinks per person, to keep the guests busy while you and your new husband have your wedding photographs taken.
What you decide to serve as welcome drinks can depend on the season you are getting married in or if you are getting married abroad it could be the local drink of the area.
Here are some ideas.
SUMMER WEDDING
White wine
Rose wine
Pimm's
Alcoholic and non alcoholic fruit punches such as blood orange sangria or strawberry Pineapple punch
Elderflower cordial
Fresh lemonade
Cocktails such as Mojitos or Elderflower Cosmopolitans
Limoncello Gin Cocktail
WINTER WEDDING
Mulled wine
Raspberry Martini Fizz
Red wine
Hot whisky
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic hot fruit punches such as apple pie punch or
Hot chocolate with marshmallows (some with a kick of liquor)
Winter Pimm's
Cranberry Margaritas
TOP TIP
Alongside drinks, offer guests a selection of canapés - alcohol on an empty stomach is never a good idea. Canapés should be bite size and include options for vegetarian guests.
Concerned about the budget? If you're serving plenty of canapés, scrap the starter and go straight into your main course. And finally...make sure your guests are comfortable.
If you're allocating an hour for drinks, be sure to offer some seating and plenty of shade from the sunshine.
